Kaiser Military Truck - In a move opposite the famous $600 Hammer, in 1965 the military opted for civilian military vehicles instead of the custom-designed and manufactured vehicles that had been standard since the middle of World War II. Needing more trucks than the M37, but wanting to save money by buying mass-produced trucks, the M715 was born. A modified Kaiser Jeep pickup truck "Gladiator".

In March 1966, Kaiser signed his first production contract for 20,680 units. The truck he shipped off the assembly line in Toledo in January 1967. In total, additional contracts saw him produce over 30,500 of his M715 series of his trucks. Thyme production ceased in 1969.

Gladiator tools were used to manufacture the grilles, fenders, bonnets, doors and cockpits of the M715 family. Modifications to the metal stamping include opening the cabin top and doors corresponding to the military canvas cabin top. Also, the front wings of the Military 9.00-16 were cut to clear the wheels. The new folding draft shield is similar to that used on the M38A1.

The last of his M715 series built at Toledo was his 43 prototype ordered by the Army in December 1969. These his M715s were slightly modified and were intended for comparison testing with the Chevrolet XM705 1 1/4-ton truck design. Unfortunately, Kaiser Jeep and Chevrolet didn't accept either model.

The M715 was the first 'M' series tactical vehicle to use primarily civilian commercial components. Unlike other military or civilian vehicles, the M715's cargo bed was all new.

4=Good: Works or needs some work to make it work. Also poor recovery or poor learning recovery.

5=Restored: Requires complete body, chassis and interior restoration. It may or may not work, but it's not broken or damaged enough to be used for parts only.
